The Iranian Sociological Association is a non-profit association established in 1991 and operates in the fields of science, research, expertise and consulting. This association was introduced as the "Top Scientific Association" in the ninth festival honoring the country's top researchers (2008), which is held by the Ministry of Science, Research and Technology.
Objectives of the forum:

Production and promotion of sociological knowledge.
Develop and specify rules (procedural norms and social norms or scientific ethics) for sociological actors.
Strengthening the value and prestige of sociology (gaining scientific and social dignity).
Strengthening the scientific commitment and trade union identity of sociological activists.
Expansion, expansion and enrichment of association relations in the scientific community and society politics. 
Applying sociology by posing the basic problems of society and trying to describe, explain and solve them.
Expansion of scientific interaction with policy-making, planning and executive institutions of the country.
Providing scientific, educational and research services to the private and public sectors
Holding scientific-professional conferences at local, national and international levels.
Selection and introduction of the outstanding works of the year in the field of sociology.
Development of principles and rules of work and activity in the field of sociology, including: Determining the minimum scientific criteria for evaluating educational-research and publishing works in the field of sociology.
Codification of social research ethics.
Scientific-specialized groups

The Iranian Sociological Association carries out a large part of its scientific and research activities in the form of various scientific-specialized groups. At present, there are a large number of scientific-professional groups working in this association, each of which is dedicated to specific fields in sociology and social sciences, and their members are also experts in these fields. These groups are known as the main pillars of the Iranian Sociological Association by holding intermittent meetings, seminars, conferences and workshops, publishing articles and books, conducting research projects in their field of activity.

Office

In order to develop and expand its activities, the association has established provincial offices in the provinces of the country.

At present, except for the head office in Tehran, offices in many provinces, including Isfahan, Ilam, Khorasan, Khuzestan, Zanjan, Fars, Mazandaran, Hamedan, Chaharmahal and Bakhtiari, Kurdistan, Kerman, Gilan, Yazd, East Azerbaijan and Lorestan. Provincial associations have been created.

The Iranian Sociological Association is a member of the International Sociological Association (ISA) and the Asian Association of Research and Social Science Councils (AASSREC) in line with its international cooperation.

How to join the Iranian Sociological Association

Membership in the association is as a permanent member, affiliate member and student.
All faculty, educational and research faculty members employed or retired from universities and higher education institutions in one of the special fields of social sciences can be accepted as permanent members of the association. Other holders of master's degrees and above in specialized social sciences specialties can become members of the association by introducing two associate members.

Holders of a bachelor's degree in one of the special social sciences and all people who have a bachelor's degree and have been active in one of the special social sciences for five years and are a source of valuable works can also be affiliated members of the association.
Third and fourth year students of social sciences can become members of the Iranian Sociological Association as "student members" and benefit from the services of the association. Also, the board of directors of the association can accept an honorary member according to the criteria stated in the articles of association.
